Disney Store XRS Rocket Racers! And a New Haul!

I stopped by the Disney Store today, and, amidst a sea of Halloween costumes on clearance and Baby Yoda/The Child shirts, I was able to find some new cars! Although I didn't get any, I was surprised to see that the Disney Store had released their own set of XRS Rocket Racers. I probably shouldn't have been surprised, since they used to do TROC cars, but whatever. They don't have the big, gimmicky flames that the Mattel ones have, which is nice, since I thought that the flames on Mattel's releases looked kind of intrusive and out of place. They had Lightning, Cruz, Jackson, and Steve "Slick" LaPage. I'm not sure if they made anyone else, and if they did, I assume it's probably Barry DePedal, since they made the other four that Mattel has released. They all look pretty good, aside from Steve, who's color scheme is way off, now an ugly light green that doesn't work well with the rest of his color scheme. I think that having the Rocket Racers as pullback diecasts really works, since they can now go at really high speeds. I think that it makes sense with the theme. In fact, when pictures of the first Rocket Racers surfaced, I was hoping that their gimmick would be pullback action (of course it wasn't, but it's cool that we now have pullbacks of them).

As I already said, I didn't buy any of these, but I did buy their Pullback Intro Ramone.

(I also took some pictures of these very nice playsets. They're really cool!)

New Cars Haul From Target!

Just picked up these three at Target! I'm loving these new silver cars, and it's great to finally get Harvey Rodcap, since he was only ever out in an Amazon exclusive glen-pack prior to this. I needed to get a replacement Old School Ramone, and this one actually has a new expression, so that's great!

New Cars Haul from Target!

I found Kurt with Bug Teeth and Trainer Cruz at Target today! It's a shame they didn't have any of the other new cars (although they DID have the 2020 Copper Canyon series Cal single release), but I'm still glad to get these two!

How I made my Brush Curber Review Video!

All month on my Youtube channel, I've been doing reviews of cars, and basically nothing else. Usually, I have more variety, but I've been swamped with reviews because of Christmas, as well as some other things. So, in order to change things up a bit, I've been trying to add some more comedy, or unique segments, to my reviews. (Since my Youtube videos no longer have comments, please comment here if you have anything to say about the recents reviews. Thanks!). Anyway, in my Brush Curber review (Link Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jK4kE--Iu9w&feature=youtu.be), I included a sketch where I start to review another car, knocking Brush off of my reviewing area, but, he rises back up again. And how I did it is simple!

First, I taped fishing line to the back of Brush's packaging (in two different places to make it more stable)

I then taped the other end of the fishing line to the roll of tape, and slid the roll of tape onto my arm.

After this, I placed the fishing line around a tack on my wall.

While filming the actual video, I switched from filming with my right hand to my left hand, grabbed the fishing line with my right hand, and pulled up Brush.

And there you go! There's a bit of behind-the-scenes insight for all of you! Now, you, too can use this trick to impress your friends...but, you probably shouldn't, they'd be able to see the big roll of tape around your arm...I used the camera angle to my advantage. Anyway, guys, thanks for checking out this post, make sure to comment if you have anything else to say, and I'll see you guys again soon! Bye, now!

The Closet Door-Part One

My collection's been a mess for MONTHS now, in fact, it's been a total mess for half a year now, so, I think it's time to finally get things back on track, starting with my closet door, which I use to display recent hardbacks. I last updated in in August of 2019, featuring both cars from the 2018/19 series and the new-at-the-time Blue Desert cars. So, I've removed all of the non-Blue Desert Cardbacks from here, and now, I'm going to redo the door featuring only cars from the Blue Desert line. I'll make sure to post some pictures of my progress.

What else do you want to see on this blog?

Hey, guys, quick question: What do you want to see next? I've been doing written reviews for a little while now, but I want to take a break from those. So, what else would you all like to see here? More lists? Hauls? Updates to my collection? Let me know in the comments!

What's in My Wal-mart #1

Welcome, Everyone, to WHATS IN MY WAL-MART!

This is pretty self-explanatory, this is was the stock in my Walmart tonight. (January Tenth, 2020). Nothing too interesting, aside from the re-release/ new variant of Hydraulic Yellow Ramone with paint gun, which I got. They also had a new XRS Rocket Racers track set that I haven't seen before. There's always a new one of these with each of the XRS series, it's nothing too special at this point.

Updated Fillmore Review

Hey, guys! Today, I'm going to be taking a look at the 2019 Updated Fillmore diecast! He's a car from last year that I really think went under the radar. As they have already done with some of the other Radiator Springs Townsfolk, Mattel has re-released Fillmore with an updated facial expression closer to his precision series release. He also has brighter colors than his older releases. When it came to who in the main cast of townies would get an update next, I never expected Fillmore. In my opinion, the older Fillmore still holds up. His model and expression were completely fine, unlike, say, the original Sally's.

(By the way, For the purposes of this review, the new Fillmore is in the middle, the original is on the left, and the precision series is on the right.)

I guess Mattel thought Fillmore's model was fine, too, as it is barely different than his original release. In fact, aside from a different mouth, (and the eye plate), I Really don't see any new differences with this model, aside from it being a little bit smaller, but, I may be mistaken. The other major change, aside from his expression, are the colors. Most of Fillmore's decals are now way brighter and more vibrant, which I don't mind, but I think they may be a bit too bright, compared to his past releases.

In the end, this Fillmore is a fine upgrade from his original model. While I would've prefer a different car, like, say, Sheriff, to get an upgrade instead, I'm still very happy to have this new Fillmore. Anyway, guys, those are just my thoughts! Let me know what you think in the comments! Thanks for checking out this post, and make sure to check back soon for more! Bye, now!

Blue Desert Haul Inngas Review

Hey, guys! Today, I'm going to be taking a look at the 2019 Blue Desert Re-release of Cars 1 Piston Cup racer Haul Inngas! I didn't get many of the Cars 1 Piston Cup Racers when I first started buying cars, so I don't have that many. That means that this release of Haul is my first diecast of him. It's also the first time Haul has been made in Thailand, instead of China, and he looks pretty good! But, more on what I think about him in just a minute.

Haul Inngas (Whose name is a pun: "Haul-in-Gas", as in to load gas into the car) raced for Retread in the first Cars movie. Sadly, Retread was cut from Cars 3, making Haul the sole representative for the sponsor in the movies. I really like his color scheme, it's unique, a very light purple (although it probably should be a tiny bit darker). He has a simple zig-zag pattern, which, in a very cool touch, carries over all across his sides and back. The pattern flawlessly moves across him, and I was surprised at how consistent it was.

Haul uses the body first used by Aiken Axler/Nitroade, and has the same exact expression as all of the other cars of that model. While that usually may come off as a negative, it doesn't really matter to me, as he was first released early on in the Cars diecast line, back when the expressions weren't as varied. Aside from that, and the eye plate that all made in Thailand cars have, I can't really think about anything negative to say about this car. And the negatives that I just listed are things that I really don't mind! You may say that his design is a bit dated or generic, but that's alright, he's from a movie that released in 2006. Of course his designs won't be as detailed as the ones in Cars 3! And that's perfectly okay. In the end, Haul Inngas is a very nice Cars 1 Piston Cup racer, and probably has one of my favorite colors schemes out of all of them. It's just a shame Retread didn't make it into Cars 3.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts, so let me know what you guys think in the comments! Thanks for checking out this post, and make sure to check back soon for more! Bye, now!

Corrected Terry Kargas Review

Terry Kargas, the Triple Dent Racer from Cars 3,
was originally released on the wrong body
(that being the body first used for Cal Weathers).
In his Blue Desert single release, Terry has been
corrected. This updated version of him uses the
proper model, (first used for Brick Yardley)
and also changes some minor
things, so, let's take a closer look!

In the photos I've provided, the old, Cal Weathers model Terry is on the left, while the new, Brick Yardley model Terry is on the right. There are lots of obvious changes made to Terry thanks to him being on a different model now, (such as the different body shape, new rims, bumper, etc.) but I am going to bring up some of the less obvious changes. Terry's eyelids and front are are now a lighter color (although his artwork indicates that it should be much darker).
The blue on his roof, sides, and hood is now much darker. Terry also sports a very different back design.

In the end, I think this is a great upgrade to Terry. I really like how it turned out, and I totally prefer it to his original release. But, most of all, I'm glad that Terry WAS fixed in the first place, as I'm surprised that this was even released. It's nice to know that Mattel/Pixar cared enough to correct him. In fact, in the last few years, they've been corrected a lot of their cars! Roscoe's size, Miss Fritter's stop sign, Ponchy Wipeout's eyelids, Brick Yardley's camera, Mater, Sally, and Fillmore were all updated, Smokey's shape, and Holley Shiftwell's paint job are just a few examples of updates in recent years. This is a trend that I really hope continues (the fixing of the mistakes, that is...I don't want the trend of cars with mistakes being made to continue). Anyway, guys, thanks for checking out this review, comment below and let me know your thoughts, and make sure to check back soon for more! Bye, now!

Kurt Review

Today, we have yet another Rust-eze Racing Center trainee to take a look at. More specifically, this one is Kurt, one of the more prominently featured trainees in the Cars 3 movie. You may better remember him as "the Bug Guy." I have a love/hate relationship with these cars. It's cool to get them, and I want to collect them all because each one is a little different than the last. But, I don't really like the fact that they are basically the only cars released in the Rust-eze Racing Center series (aside from a few re-releases and the new Trainer Cruz).

Anyway, Kurt is trainee #12 and has light purple accents. He is the second purple trainee, following the very dark purple of Junyi. He is another trainee using the more rectangular Next-Gens body, usually referred to as the Danny Swervez model by fans. Speaking of Danny, Kurt also uses Danny's mouth, but that's nothing new. He has the same mouth and same eye expression as most of then other trainees.

At the end of the day, Kurt is just another Rust-eze Racing Center trainee. If you're looking for another one of these cars either for play or for your collection, you've found it! He's a very nice, simple diecast, but, that could be said about any of the trainees. Unfortunately, there isn't much that makes this guy stand out in a sea of Rust-eze Racing Center trainees, (and while that is kind of the point, they're all the same generic car, just with different accents) it's kind of disappointing to me that Kurt wasn't given a unique expression like Ronald or Junyi. Despite this, I do really like Kurt, since I like these trainees, and want to make a massive collection of them, just like in the movie. Anyway guys, thanks for checking out this review, and make sure to check back soon for another one! Bye, now!

Randy Lawons Review

Hey, guys! Today, I'm going to be taking a look at Randy Lawson, a racer from the Doc's Racing Days series. As I've said in the past, I love this series, and all of the racers released in it. Each one is unique, and they all look so cool! Of course, Randy Lawson is no exception!

Randy is #91, and is sponsored by Sputter Stop, which appeared as a background Piston Cup sponsor in Cars 1 and 3, so that's a nice little piece of continuity. He's also sponsored by "Genuine Never Tire," which doesn't seem to be around by the time of Cars 3, since we never see it anywhere else.

Randy has blacks x's over his headlights, a grill with an interesting shape, and a very nice color scheme. His expression seems a bit "off" to me, though, I think that he has a bit too much of a dead stare. But, that doesn't stop Randy here from being another solid entry in the Doc's Racing Days Series.

In the end, Randy Lawson is another great car from the flashbacks of Cars 3. While he may not be the  best of the Flashback racers, he definitely is still great. I can't wait to see what racers are released next in this series! Anyway, guys, thanks for checking out this review, and make sure to check back soon for more! Bye, now!

XRS Rocket Racing Steve "Slick" LaPage with Blast Wall Review

Hey, guys! Today, I'm taking a look at the XRS Rocket Racing Steve "Slick" LaPage. As I've said before, I'm not the biggest fan of this Rocket Racing series. In my eyes, the cars just don't look right without their spoilers and with massive flames shooting out of their backs. When I first saw Steve here, before I opened him up, he was one of my least favorites in the series, but, I'm happy to say I am pleasantly surprised with the diecast..

Steve "Slick" LaPage works surprisingly well as a Rocket Racer. Unlike Lightning, he doesn't look too bad without a spoiler. His flames don't feel as intrusive, either, which is nice. I think this is because of the wider shape of the car. Every version of Steve has these really cool green foil sections, and this variant adds to this concept, having the fin on his roof and the "X" on his XRS logos be covered in green foil.

Steve also includes a "Blast Wall" accessory, and it's the same as the others, just with his own number and color scheme. I really like how each of the blast walls use a different color, and I'm excited to see what colors the other cars use.

In the end, this car turned out much better than I first thought, and, although I still would prefer it if his flames were removed, I'm fine with them being here, as I previously stated. He looks really cool, thanks to the green foil design, and is probably my favorite of the three Rocket Racers that I have opened and reviewed so far.

Since I ended up really liking this car, you may be wondering why I said I didn't like it before I opened it. Well, the reason for that is simple: the artwork on his cardback looked really unappealing to me, which is a shame, because Steve himself is pretty good. Anyway, guys, thanks for checking out my review, and make sure to check back soon for more posts! Bye, now!

XRS Rocket Racing Jackson Storm Review

Today, I'm going to be taking a look at the XRS Rocket Racing Jackson Storm with Blast Wall. I already discussed my thoughts on this new series in general yesterday, but, to sum it all up, In my opinion, these cars are obviously very gimmicky. They have ridiculous designs, and look pretty goofy. Despite all this, they aren't bad. They're well-made cars diecasts, they have cool little details, like the racer's initials on their hood, and bolts on their windows, and they include  a "Blast Wall," which can really be used for a lot of things, considering how simple its design is.

Jackson Storm is probably my Rocket Racer favorite in terms of looks. While most of the cars in this series look really odd without spoilers, Jackson doesn't look all that bad. He keeps his usual expression (Storm's expression hasn't really changed throughout the XRS realeses), and has it's full of nice touches, like a bolted-up panel on his side. The back of Jackson has been modified as well, as it has been extended for this "Rocket Race," and that also looks pretty good.

Once again, I feel like the flames shooting out of the back of Jackson really takes away from the car. The way they are angled, in addition to just how huge they are really looks strange....but, hey, they spin when you roll him, so...

Jackson also includes a blast wall, and, like I said earlier, it's a simple design that can be useful for many things, both play, and display. You can race Jackson and watch him crash through the wall, or use it a pit-stop barrier, or a border on the race track.

In the end, this Jackson is pretty okay. He's my favorite of these new Rocket Racers, but the series isn't a favorite of mine. Thanks for checking out this post, and make sure to check back soon for more reviews! Bye, now!

XRS Rocket Racing Lightning McQueen Review

The XRS series is back, and the cars look as ridiculous as ever! This time around, the gimmick (that makes the cars cost $6 in the U.S. instead of 4) is that the cars have flames that spin when you roll the back wheels, and plastic, pit-stop barrier-like "Blast Walls." The cars themselves are now missing their spoilers, and have lots of interesting details, like having their initials written on their hoods, and having all of their windows bolted up. Although a plot is not detailed on the hardback, this XRS race clearly focuses on dangerously high speeds.

This concept makes these XRS racers look pretty weird. Having no spoiler is probably the big thing making these cars look "off." But, I think that the flames are really what makes these cars look strange. They're just shooting out of the back and are at such an odd angle..

Getting into the specifics of Lightning himself, I quite like the color scheme. Just like his Drag racing variant, black has been added as a third major color on Lightning, in addition to red and orange, and it makes him look pretty cool. The font for his "95" is pretty different, it's a much bolder font. Another detail that I like is that everything is boarded up. Bolts are painted (and even molded in some places), showing that these cars are ready to move fast. Having these bolts on the top fin of the car is another nice touch, showing just how much he was modified. As for his expression, it looks a bit off to me for some reason. It looks like his eyes are a bit farther apart than usual.

As for the blast wall, of course it's there to make the higher price point more "worth it," and I don't really mind that. It's a nice accessory.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Let me know what you all think about this car in the comments, and make sure to check back soon for another post! Bye, guys!
